K Lazy 3 Summer Adventures is proud to announce two very special backcountry trips for 2023. If you are interested in backcountry horse packing and also have a love of photography, K Lazy 3 Summer Adventures has teamed up with Montanan, and professional photographer Mark LaRowe. These amazing six-day/five night trips will be based out of our comfortable log lodge in Lincoln, Montana and include three nights and four days in our permitted backcountry wilderness camp located at Meadow Creek in the heart of the amazing Scapegoat Wilderness in western Montana. The Scapegoat Wilderness is part of the world-famous Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex, the largest wilderness complex in the lower 48 states. Our Meadow Creek camp is located below Bugle and Mountain and along the beautiful Meadow Creek. You will be surrounded by pristine wilderness, vast forests, meadows full of blooming wildflowers, snow-capped peaks, and star-filled night skies. Both trips are led by our expert guides and wranglers, as well as experienced backcountry photographer Mark LaRowe, and include our seasoned pack horses. You bring your camera gear, clothing, enthusiasm and we’ll provide the rest!
These are wilderness backcountry trips. You will NOT have access to cell service or internet connectivity. The trip includes up to 12 miles of horseback riding per day, some hiking, and exposure to unpredictable late spring mountain weather. You should at least have a reasonable level of physical fitness and some basic knowledge of camping and hiking and appropriate gear for warmth, comfort and dryness. While in the backcountry you will be housed in our stout and weatherproof canvas wall tents on comfortable backcountry cots. Meals will be provided in the dining/kitchen tent by our experienced backcountry cook, including hot breakfasts and dinners. You will also be provided pack lunches and snacks.
Mark is experienced in backcountry and landscape photography and has accompanied us on many of our trips in past years, creating a variety of stunning images. He’ll lead you to many of his favorite locations around the Meadow Creek base camp, as well as other locations reached during horseback day trips. The trip includes the small-group field instruction, as well as image review and editing techniques on the first night and last night while housed in our lodge. Photographic opportunities included wildlife, meandering streams, small lakes reflecting the surrounding forests, snow-capped mountains and Montana skies, blooming wildflowers, horses and maybe even some nighttime astro photography.

October 3 – Breakfast, sunrise shoot, pack, horseback ride return to trailhead, dinner at lodge, image critique, editing instruction.
October 4 – Sunrise shoot, breakfast, discussion/instruction, pack, departure by noon.
You are responsible for your own travel arrangements and getting to the K Lazy 3 Lodge in Lincoln, MT. The cost of each trip is $2999.00 and includes all meals, lodging, photography instruction, horses and related gear. You need only to bring your camera gear, clothing, sleeping bag, pad, limited personal items and your enthusiasm. A $550 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your space. Participation is limited to four (4) attendees.
